Silence - Odilon Redon (c 1911), pastel. symbolist. Museum of Modern Art, New York, USA.

Harpocrates: the god of silence, secrets and confidentiality of Hellenistic religion in Ptolemaic Alexandria.

Redon recreated the figure of the god of silence who is known for the characteristic gesture of the forefinger pressed before his lips. This work of art enforces and agrees to the idea that the greatest mystery cannot be spoken, as it goes beyond the intellect of human beings and all possible symbolic, spoken or witnessed representations.

This is an idea I believe in, which is why I shared this beautiful work of art.
