Fall is here, and it's one of my favorite seasons. It allows long on long layering, velvet and trench coats, giving me more reasons to love fall. Not to mention the beautiful color of the leaves and cozy atmosphere.
I present to you my favorite trends and ideas on what to wear for this Fall, 2016.
What To Wear?
Bare your back
Backless shirts are dominating DVF's Fall collection for this year, and I adore that. There is always something quite daring and attracting about a woman with enough confidence to bare her back. Now you can wear backless shirts to be casual chic, or even to a casual dinner party.
Ruffled lace & silk
This trend brings back the 18th century famous ruffles made traditionally on dresses. In today's era, one can wear ruffled lace, chiffon and silk on shirts as well as coats/jackets, especially in Fall.
Floral crepe coats are a big hit this season.

Wide-legged pants are not only worn during summer, but this Fall the wide-legged pants come in darker shades for this Fall, and are often worn smartly with long layers.
Printed peplum tops
Alexander McQueen made this gorgeous printed silk-georgette peplum top. Peplum tops have been on trend last year's fall as well, but this year they are back in print!
Printed Lace Maxi
Maxi dresses are coming in a new shape this season, and in lace! Christopher Kane showcased a beautiful lace printed maxi dress which was styled with a printed floral top as well; beautiful.
The designer also made the same floral print on a draped short dress, which is also very friendly for this season.
I am a big fan of velvet, especially bold velvet colours like green and red. I am lovign this Roland Mouret velvet top from their Fall 16 collection.
How to accessorize?
The runways for 2016's Fall have shown a great deal of leather bags, especially the off-shoulder type. This season of a time when the weather gets colder, and a woman will therefore wish to become more practical in accessorizing, an off-shoulder leather bag would be an ideal choice to carry.
Chokers are still going strong in Fall, and although I was not always a fan of the trend, I am slowly falling in love with chokers combining gold-tones and leather, such as the one below by Tom Ford
I am writing this as my eldest sister asks me: "Balsam, what's trending for shoes this season?". I automatically reply: velvet, suede and embellishments.
Thanks to the likes of CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN and RENÉ CAOVILLA, the knee-high boots are brought back this season, after a long disappearance.
