Viva la Mamma is the collection presented by the prestigious Dolce & Gabbana for the 2015/16 Autumn/Winter RTW in Milan; the collection came as a portrayal of appreciation for motherhood, and to celebrate the importance of family value, especially that dedicated to the mother figure. It has been once stated that “Being a mother is an attitude, not a biological relation.”; this collection certainly gives an amazing attitude for moms out there!
So a quick thought on the collection?
I personally adore Dolce & Gabbana; they never fail to impress with their color choices, prints, and floral embellishments that to me seem very fit to represent the love of a mother.
The collection interpreted conservative elements - as seen there are plenty of under the knee lengths, full sleeves and even some maternity wear! How gorgeous :D
What I love the most about this collection is the consistency in the Dolce & Gabbana signature style, and adapting that to fit the maternal wear and interpreting it in a way that represents the love of a mother. It is vulnerable, yet strong - just like the lace and embellishments used on the collection. Additionally, the contrast between the vibrant colors such as reds and greens (there is also a hint of pink) and blacks and darker shades is blended very well throughout the collection.
Another impressive thing is the proportion of the dresses (especially the shorter ones) and the perfectly cut and interpreted lace. If you can see the dress on the image below (left of the image) the cuts around the collar, sleeves and end of the dress are perfectly symmetrical and gives a complex vibe from somewhat a simple dress.
Since AlBalsamLife.com is a Fashion & Beauty post, I should also make some comments on the beauty aspect of the show, which to me also fits a modern day mother! The make-up was maintained simple, occasionally adding a hint of bolder lip.
The fundamental focus seemed to be on a glowing skin - just like the one you see on a pregnant woman, or on a newly mom. Highlighting was very important, and a lot of moisture!
All in all, I am so happy to see that fashion is taking the initiative to illustrate the importance of a mother's love; and I love how Dolce & Gabbana displayed this at a perfect timing (mother's day). To me, fashion has always been a silent way of putting across your inner thoughts and feelings, and what Dolce & Gabbana did this year is marvelously inspiring for me as a fashion conscious person. It will definitely be a collection to remember for many more years to come!
