On the 25th of May 2013, I was asked by a friend to help in a Charity sale that her family organised in corporation with the General Directorate for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in Muscat, Oman. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to take part in such a great event so I instantly said yes!!

Before I show you a few images from the event, I would like to tell you more about the idea of the Charity sale that took place on that day.

The event was under the name "الملتقى الخيري لصالح إفطار صائم", which translates to "Charity Forum for the benefit of Ramadan fasting" is a charity sale organised by Al Hashar family with collaboration from the General Directorate for the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, and was destined to gather money to benefit the poor during the holy month of Ramadan. For those who are not familiar with Ramadan, it is a month in which all Muslims have to fast from the sun rise to sun set.

Unfortunately, many families are not fortunate enough to be able to provide food for their family gatherings and the 'Iftar' (breaking of the fasting) during the month of Ramadan which is extremely sad, but it is good to see that people, like the Hashar family, are willing to help out by organizing such events to help the needy.

The Charity sale took place on Saturday, the 25th of May starting 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and it included the sale of many items including handbags, fabrics, perfumes,  frankincense, clothing and delicious foods. All the money gathered from the event will go to feeding the poor during the month of Ramadan.

I was personally in charge of a small portion of the food's section and I was lucky enough to work with the other volunteers very happily. It was not only a great humanitarian event that gathered around 6,000 Omani Riyals in one day, it was also a great way to meet amazing people and make new friends, so I am really thankful for being able to participate in it.

The event also included some fun games and activities for children and adults too, such as Henna and fun games ftor the younger ones.

Here are a few photographs from the event taken by my very good friend Sara Al Hashar:

It was an amazing experience for me, and I would certainly love to do it again. I would like to thank the Hashar family for initiating and organizing the event and allowing me to take part :)

Lots of love,
