السلام عليكم ورحمة الله وبركاته
Muttrah is a very well known tourism spot in the city of Muscat, and is famous for holding one of Oman's oldest, and most traditional Souks (Markets). Last Thursday, I paid a sudden visit to the traditional Souk in Mutrah with my family, and was amazingly lucky to spot the sunset in the beautiful Muttrah beach. I took a few photographs for you guys!
As for the Market, it is known for selling all traditional Omani products, starting from really expensive Jewelry such as Gold and pearls, all the way to refreshing Frankincense that us Omanis are famous for in this region.
The following picture shows a very popular shape of jewelry, which is basically a pure gold spiked bangle. Every Omani woman must own at least one of these! They are traditionally worn on special celebrations and occasions, especially the larger ones. Younger girls tend to buy smaller ones, and older married women often have the larger, more expensive one.
The architecture of the traditional market takes you back to the old Omani days, as seen from the next picture, the ceiling of the Market is decorated with pretty Islamic mosaics and beautiful lighting.
Make sure you visit Muttrah if you ever visit Oman :)
